The Goal Cypher Yeti 150 is a heavy, expensive pile of junk. What y'all telephone call a "portable power station" I call a "non very portable giant donkey paperweight". Certain, it has the USB ports y'all would look, and an Air conditioning and DC auto charger output port. But the USB ports are old USB 2.0 ports, and there is no USB-c or fifty-fifty USB 3.0 college.
I've used the Goal Zip Yeti 150 for the past two weeks on a mostly off-filigree camper bout of Oregon.
Goal Zip Yeti 150 vs 200x. I really detest one.
Seriously, do not purchase this. I bought one for half price (cheers REI returns!), and I nonetheless barely discover it worth the $100 I paid for information technology.
It's heavy. Y'all will demand a real life Yeti to deport this monster nearly 13lb "portable" power station around for you.
The Goal Aught Yeti 150 portable ability station screen is terrible.
There are a dozen better options than the Goal Zero 150 now.
Sure, dorsum when this launched, information technology was absurd. Well, information technology's nearly 2021 now and buying a lead acid acid based portable battery station is insane. Li-Ion is where information technology's at.
Do. Not. Buy. The. 150.
I don't hate Goal Nothing. In fact, I similar the Goal Zilch 200x quite a bit. It's a massive improvement over the 150. There are still better pocket-size ability stations out there, just if you lot really desire to stay within Goal Zero, the 200x is where it is at.
Why does the Goal Zip 150 suck and so bad?
1. The 150 is frigging heavy
It's 12 lbs! For a small, 167 Wh capacity, the weight is too much. Everything is better at present with Li-Ion batteries vs this lead acid junk.
two. The Yeti 150 screen is worthless.
It has a hard to read screen with no backlight. The bombardment accuse meter shows five sections of charge, xx, twoscore, sixty, 80, etc. So you can become a crude range of where the accuse of the battery is at, just cipher exact similar the % number you get from the 200x.
iii. It can't actually output 100W via AC.
I accept a portable freezer, that pulls well-nigh 60W max AC. The 150 was unable to ability this freezer via AC. It was able to handle via DC 12-volt (cigarette lighter port) power.
4. The Goal Zero Yeti 150 charges slow.
Hooked up to a 100W solar panel, it's unclear how fast the paperweight is charging. Information technology has a low-cal that says, "Yeah, I'm charging" but you have no idea how many watts it is taking. Sure, most small-scale portable power stations don't have an input watt meter, only it really leaves you clueless.
It only has a 5 amp input, so you can max charge 60W. The 200x has 10 AMP input, and tin can charge at 120W, twice as fast.
What do I like about the Yeti 150?
If I had to pick something….information technology's that the thing feels similar a tank. I have dropped it multiple times already, and information technology does have a solid build to information technology. And there is something nice nigh having a piece of equipment yous could care less if it breaks. So, in that location is that. And that it does have 168Wh, more than than it'south 150 proper name (I'm looking at you 200x with just 187 Wh).
Just buy the Goal Nix Yeti 200x though or the Jackery 160 if yous're really smart.
The Goal Zip Yeti 150 sucks. Purchase anything else.
